Dynamic Environment Manager Integration with Workspace ONE UEM (BETA)

Part 1: Enrolling a Windows 10 to Test Dynamic Environment Manager and Workspace ONE UEM Integration
- On your ControlCenter server
- Open your Remote Desktops Folder
- Select and launch the DEM_UEM.rdp shortcut
- Login with the username admin
- Login with the password VMware1!
- Select and launch the DEM_UEM.rdp shortcut
- Open your Remote Desktops Folder
- On the DEM_UEM Desktop
- Next to the Start button, select Search
- Type hub
- Select Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub
- In the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub
- In the Email or Server Address area
- type dw-livefire.awmdm.com
- Select Next
- In the Email or Server Address area
- In the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub
- Under Group ID, type YOUR UEM Tenant GROUP ID
- Select Next
- In the Workspace ONE login window
- Under Select Your Domain
- Select euc-livefire.com from the dropdown
- Select Next
- Under Select Your Domain
- In the Workspace ONE login window
- Under username, type mark
- Under password, type VMware1!
- Select Sign In
- In the Want an even better experience? window
- Select I Agree
- In the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub
- Select Done
- In the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub
- Select Get Started
- On the DEM_UEM Desktop
- Note the settings you configured previously in Workspace ONE Intelligent hub
- Observe the Desktop and lack of Background
- Open File Explorer
- Note you only have Local Disk (c:) drive
Part 2: Getting started with Dynamic Environment Manager integration
- On your ControlCenter Server
- From the Taskbar, launch the Dynamic Environment Manager Console
- In the Dynamic Environment Manager Console
- Under Personalization,
- Select Configure
- Under Personalization,
- In the Settings window
- Select the Integration tab
- In the Integration tab,
- Select the checkbox, next Workspace ONE UEM Integration
- At the bottom of Settings, select OK

In the VMware Dynamic Environment Manager window
- Select OK
- Close and re-open the Dynamic Environment Manager console
- In the Dynamic Environment Manager Console
- In the top left-hand corner, select the STAR Icon
- In the DEM Config Profile drop menu
- Select Import NoAD.xml
- In File Explorer window
- Next to File name, copy and paste the following

Part 3. Configuring Dynamic Environment Manager for operations in Workspace ONE UEM
There are thousands of different combination settings we could use to deliver configurations to a Windows operating system. We will configure a few as part of the package and we will upload this to Workspace ONE UEM
- On the Dynamic Environment Manager - Management Console
- Under the Personalization tab
- Select Create Config File
- Under the Personalization tab
- In the Create Config File wizard, Step 1
- Select the radio button, next to Use a Windows Common Setting
- Select Next
- In the Create Config File wizard, Step 2
- Select the radio button, next to Wallpaper - AppData NOT redirected
- Select Next
- In the Create Config File wizard, Step 3
- Next to Filename, type Wallpaper for Sales,
- Select Finish
- On the Dynamic Environment Manager - Management Console
- Under General , select the Wallpaper for Sales
- To the right, select the dropdown next to Manage
- Select Expand
- In the Expand Windows Common Setting?
- Select Yes
- On the Dynamic Environment Manager - Management Console
- Select the Import / Export tab
- Take a short glance at the Registry and File paths for this work.
- To the right of the Import / Export tab, select Predefined Settings
- Select the Import / Export tab
- In the Predefined Settings tab
- Select Add...
- Under Default Settings
- Select Install..
- In the File Explorer Window
- Browse to C:\UEMProfiles\mark\Archives\Windows Settings
- Select Wallpaper-win10.zip
- Select Open
- Next to Name: type Sales Wallpaper
- Next to Type: from the dropdown select Fully Enforced Settings
- On the Dynamic Environment Manager - Management Console
- Select Save Config File
- On the Dynamic Environment Manager - Management Console
- Select the User Environment tab
- Select Drive Mappings
- Select Create Drive Mapping...
- Select Drive Mappings
- Select the User Environment tab
- In the Drive Mapping window
- Under General Settings
- Next to Name: type Sales wallpaper
- Under Drive Mapping Settings
- Next to Drive Letter: select G
- Next to Remote path: type \\horizon.euc-livefire.com\software\DesktopBackground
- Select Save, to close the Drive Mapping window
- Under General Settings
- On the Dynamic Environment Manager - Management Console
- Select Save Config File
- In the Dynamic Environment Manager Console
- In the top left-hand corner, select the STAR Icon
- In the DEM Config Profile drop menu
- Select Save As

- Browse to \\horizon.euc-livefire.com\software\DEM
- Next to File name: type DEM_UEM_Config
- Select Save

Part 4: Configuring Workspace ONE UEM to deliver the Dynamic Environment Manager FlexEngine to Endpoints
- On your ControlCenter Server
- Open your Chrome Browser
- In the address bar enter dw-livefire.awmdm.com
- In the Workspace ONE UEM login
- Under Username, type your Custom username
- Select Next
- Under Password, type VMware1!
- Select Log In
- Open your Chrome Browser
- In the Workspace ONE UEM console
- Select APPS & BOOKS
- In the APPS & BOOKS area
- Ensure that you have Native > List View > Internal selected.
- This should be default
- Ensure that you have Native > List View > Internal selected.
- In the APPS & BOOKS area
- Under Internal, select ADD > Application File
- In the Add Application window
- Select UPLOAD
- In the Add window interface
- Select Choose File
- In the Open window,
- enter \\horizon.euc-livefire.com\software\DEM\VMware-DEM-Enterprise-2111-10.4-GA in the address bar
- In the VMware-DEM-Enterprise-2111-10.4-GA folder
- Select VMware Dynamic Environment Manager Enterprise 2111 10.4 x64.msi
- Select Open
- Select VMware Dynamic Environment Manager Enterprise 2111 10.4 x64.msi
- Select Save
- In the Add Application window
- Select CONTINUE
- In the Add Application - VMware Dynamic Environment Manager Enterprise v 10.4.0.101 window
- Select the Deployment Options Tab
- Next to Install Command* append the following the existing command
- INTEGRATION_ENABLED=1
- The command should look like this when complete
- msiexec /i "VMware Dynamic Environment Manager Enterprise 2111 10.4 x64.msi" /qn INTEGRATION_ ENABLED=1
- Select SAVE & ASSIGN
- In the VMware Dynamic Environment Manager Enterprise - Assignment window
- In the Distribution area
- Next to:-
- Name : type Dynamic Environment Manager
- AssignmentGroups not globalized : select All devices (YOUR ORGANIZATION)
- App Delivery Method : select the Radio Button next to Auto
- Select CREATE
- Next to:-
- In the Distribution area
- In the VMware Dynamic Environment Manager Enterprise - Assignment window
- Select SAVE
- In the VMware Dynamic Environment Manager Enterprise - Preview Assigned Devices window
- Select PUBLISH
Part 5: Configuring the Workspace ONE UEM Device Profile for VMware Dynamic Environment Manager
- On the ControlCenter Server
- In the Workspace ONE UEM Admin Console
- Select Devices
- Select Profiles & Resources
- Select Devices
- In the Workspace ONE UEM Admin Console
- In the Workspace ONE UEM Admin Console
- Under Profiles & Resources
- Select Profiles
- Under Profiles & Resources
- In the Profiles interface
- Select the dropdown next to ADD
- Select Add Profile
- In the Add Profile window
- Select Windows
- In the Select Device Type window
- Select Windows Desktop
- In the Select Context window
- Select Device Profile
- In the Add a New Windows Desktop Profile window
- In the General Area,
- Add the following next to: -
- Name: type Windows 10 Device Profile
- Smart Groups: select All Devices (YOUR ORGANIZATION)

- Scroll down and select Dynamic Environment Manager
- In the right-hand pane, select CONFIGURE
- In the Dynamic Environment Manager pane
- Select UPLOAD
- In the Add window,
- Select Choose File
- In the Open window
- In the address bar, browse to following folder
- \\horizon.euc-livefire.com\software\DEM
- Next to File name,
- Select the DEM_UEM_Config.DEMConfig file
- Select Open
- In the Add window
- Select SAVE
- In the address bar, browse to following folder
- In the Dynamic Environment Manager area
- Select SAVE AND PUBLISH
- In View Device Assignment
- Select PUBLISH
Part 6: Observing the results on the Windows 10 desktop
- On the DEM_UEM desktop
- In the bottom right corner, select the Intelligent Hub Icon and right-click
- Select Sync
- The deployment requires the Dynamic Environment Manager FlexEngine, Configuration Profile and Licensing to be delivered
- When authoring this material, I initiated a manual sync and then waited about 10minutes before I started seeing anything in the notifications area on the Taskbar
- Select your Notifications in the bottom right corner
- Observe if the installation has started
- Wait for it to complete
- On the DEM_UEM desktop
- Select and right-click the START button
- Select Shut down or sign out > Sign out
- Select and right-click the START button
- On your ControlCenter Server
- On the Desktop, in your Remote Desktops folder
- Select and launch the DEM_UEM.RDP file
- In the Windows Security window
- Select More Choices
- Select Use a different account
- Login with
- the username Admin
- the password VMware1!
- Select OK
- On the Desktop, in your Remote Desktops folder
- On your DEM_UEM desktop
- Observe you should now have a VMware wallpaper
- On your taskbar, select the folder icon
- In the File Explorer window
- In the Quick access pane,
- Select This PC
- In the right pane under Devices and drives, scroll down
- Observe you now have a Drive Mapping
- In the Quick access pane,
- On the DEM_UEM desktop
- Select and right-click the START button
- Select Run
- In the Run window
- Next to Open, type regedit.exe
- Select OK

In the User Account Control window
- Select Yes
- Select and right-click the START button
- In the Registry Editor window
- Browse to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware UEM\Agent\Configuration
- Note the path of ConfigFilePath and Logfilename
The ConfigFilePath : C:\ProgramData\AirWatch\DEM\UserProfile\Agent\general
Points to ProgramData, If you were to browse to this path, It Shows the location of where the Agent, XML config and licensing files are saved
The LogFilename path %LOCALAPPDATA%\VMware\DEM\Logs\FlexEngine.log,
And is where the FlexEngine.log file is saved
Both these paths can be useful for troubleshooting
